PENGUATAN KAPASITAS ORGANISASI DAN KOMPETENSI BIDAN MELALUI EDUKASI ANTENATAL CARE TERINTEGRASI DI KABUPATEN HUMBANG HASUNDUTAN

Abstract

Strengthening clinical competence and the organizational capacity of professional associations is important for improving the quality of midwifery services. This community engagement activity aimed to strengthen organizational capacity and professional knowledge among midwives through organizational development, professional role reinforcement, and integrated antenatal care (ANC) education. The activity was conducted on 22 July 2026 at Hutamas Hall, Tano Tubu Government Office Complex, Doloksanggul, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, and involved approximately 300 participants and invitees, including IBI leaders and members, local government representatives, stakeholders, speakers, moderators, and the organizing committee. The implementation consisted of coordination and preparation, inauguration of nine branch leaderships as an organizational strengthening component, professional capacity-building sessions, integrated ANC education, and interactive discussion. All major planned components were completed. Nine IBI branch chairs were inaugurated, participants received reinforcement on the role of midwives in local health development, and an integrated ANC session was delivered by an obstetrician-gynecologist followed by interactive discussion. Participant engagement and local government support were visibly strong during the activity. Challenges related to the absence of several branch officers and changes in the local leader’s attendance schedule were managed through coordination and agenda adjustments. The activity indicates that combining professional association strengthening with clinical knowledge updating is a feasible collaborative model for midwives’ professional development. However, because no pre-test and post-test assessment was conducted, changes in participants’ knowledge or competence cannot be quantified.
